What is Weavernote?

Weavernote is an AI-powered note-taking application that helps you organize, connect, and visualize your knowledge. Note bodies are encrypted in your browser before saving; AI tools process the readable material you select.

How secure are my notes?

Note bodies use client-side encryption. Keys are derived from account information, so this is not a zero-knowledge guarantee:

  • Note bodies are encrypted using AES-256-GCM (Advanced Encryption Standard with Galois/Counter Mode), a highly secure encryption standard
  • Encryption and decryption happen locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API
  • Your encryption keys are derived from your user ID using PBKDF2 (Password-Based Key Derivation Function 2) with 100,000 iterations
  • Each note uses a unique random Initialization Vector (IV) for encryption
  • The encryption process is fully supported in all modern browsers
  • Note bodies are encrypted client-side before saving; titles and organizational metadata are handled separately
  • AI features send selected readable content through server functions to AI providers for processing
  • Exported notes are automatically decrypted, and imported notes are automatically encrypted

How can I import and export my notes?

Weavernote supports importing and exporting notes in Markdown format (.md files). You have several options:

Export Options:

  • Export All Notes: Click the three dots menu next to "All Notes" in the sidebar and select "Export All Notes". This will create a ZIP file containing all your notes organized by folders and notebooks.
  • Export Folder: Click the three dots menu on any folder and select "Export Folder". This exports all notes within that folder, maintaining the notebook structure.
  • Export Notebook: Click the three dots menu on any notebook and select "Export Notebook". This exports all notes from that specific notebook.
  • Exported notes are automatically decrypted during export

Import Options:

  • Click the three dots menu on any notebook and select "Import Notes" to import markdown files into that notebook.
  • Imported notes will maintain their formatting, including headers, lists, bold/italic text, and code blocks.
  • Imported notes are automatically encrypted before storage.
  • You can import multiple files at once.

How does the subscription work?

We offer two subscription plans:

  • Free Plan: Basic features with limited storage, AI usage - 20 credits, and 30 transcription minutes.
  • Sub – $9/mo: Unlimited notes & storage, unlimited AI core tools, unlimited transcription, and knowledge graph.
  • Pro – $15/mo: Everything in Sub, plus Audio Digest, Visual Digest, and unlimited AI credits.

Can I store sensitive information in my notes?

We recommend not storing sensitive or confidential information in Weavernote. Although notes are encrypted in the database, they are processed by AI language models when using features like summaries, quizzes, and flashcards. For your security, please follow these best practices:

  • Avoid storing confidential or sensitive information
  • Use a strong, unique password for your account
  • Enable two-factor authentication when available
  • If using Gmail sign-in, ensure your Google account has strong security settings
  • Log out when using shared devices
  • Regularly backup your important notes
  • Be cautious about sharing note access with others

Can I use Weavernote on my phone or tablet?

Yes! Weavernote is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works seamlessly on mobile devices and tablets. You can install it on your device and use it like a native app:

  • On iOS Safari: Tap the share button and select "Add to Home Screen"
  • On Chrome (Android/Desktop): Click the install icon in the address bar or use the three-dot menu and select "Install Weavernote"
  • On other browsers: Look for "Add to Home Screen" or "Install" in your browser's menu
